Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, demons, and sinister influences increasing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Revealed
Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to begin their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might appear out of place, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The traitor then settled his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, wants retribution.
- Kattigan knows Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as key figures in House Halovar could help the party reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and Wicander defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by the family.
This results in them little choice but to head to the northern region in search of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the players to form the Seekers and Planners tables.
Fans can look forward to finding out which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on October 24.
